If you like a bigger challenge then Nairn (11 Miles) boasts the championship Nairn Dunbar Golf Links Course. Slightly further afield there is Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Course (19 miles) and another beautiful championship course at Royal Dornoch (approx 45miles).
Clava Lodge Fishing – Try your hand at catching Wild Salmon, the king of game fish. At Clava we offer a 1¼ mile stretch of the River Nairn, which consists of 9 pools. The River Nairn is mainly a Salmon and Sea Trout river with a fair chance of catching the odd Brown Trout. The season runs from 11th February to 7th October. Spring sees some fish taken but for salmon the best fishing runs from mid July to September. Permits are free to our residents.
Of course fishing doesn’t need to stop with the River Nairn, as the Highlands boast many of the top Salmon fishing rivers in the world. Clava is ideally located to reach many of these rivers within a 30 – 45 minute drive. These Rivers include The Ness* , The Findhorn and of course the best Salmon river of them all The Spey**.

The excellent Black Isle Riding Centre (approx 10 miles) offers off road treks through woodland, mini rides for the kids and lessons in their ‘all weather’ facilities. More Info...

Strathnairn, arguably one of the most beautiful vales in the Highlands, is the perfect place for walking, whether on the country roads, forests or up in the hills, it offers stunning scenery and abundant wildlife.
Further afield, why not walk part of the Great Glen Way which runs from Inverness to Fort William, following the course of Britain’s greatest geological fault, taking you along the northwest shores of Loch Ness and Loch Lochy.
In short, there are numerous walks on offer, graded to suit the quiet stroller or the more adventurous.
